Windsor, the southernmost city in Canada, lies at the western end of the heavily-populated Quebec City-Windsor Corridor. It lies across the Detroit River and Lake St Clair from Detroit, Michigan, to which Windsor is linked by bridge and tunnels.

At the same latitude as northern California, Essex is one of the most agriculturally productive counties in the country. Located on a peninsula of land that virtually juts out into the midwest United States, Essex is one of Canada's busiest entry points and tourist areas.
